With the NFL regular season quickly approaching, Nike Sportswear treated football fans to a sweet preseason treat this past weekend with a retro release of the classic "Dolphins" Air Max Speed Turf. The original Miami Dolphins-inspired turf trainer is the second original Air Max Speed Turf colorway to release this summer, after returning last month in the original Black/White-Volt color scheme.
While the original Black/White pair was well received in their return to retail, it's the "Dolphins" colorway that really had fans eagerly awaiting their release. They made their return nearly identical to their original release, sporting slightly modified shades of orange and aqua. Released alongside the Jordan Brand's Golden Moment Package, most retailers still managed to sell through their pairs of the "Dolphins" Air Max Speed Turf over the weekend. NikeStore quickly sold out on release date, with a small restock quickly selling out as well earlier today.
Picked-up the "Dolphins" Air Max Speed Turf over the Weekend? If so, where do they rank amongst the rest of your purchases so far in 2012? Were they a consolation prize after striking out with the AJ Golden Moment Package? Hit the comment section below to let us know, and share your pick-up photos, stories and overall feedback on this retro release of the "Dolphins" Air Max Speed Turf.

The Corner, nike air speed turf max for saleThe Netherlands, along with Belgians, permit organ harvesting to be conjoined to voluntary euthanasia.
But now, Netherlands is moving to a system in which everyone is an organ donor unless they specifically opt out. From the Dutch News story:
MPs on Tuesday gave a surprise thumbs up to a motion to establish a ‘yes unless’ system for donor organs in the Netherlands.
If the draft bill goes on to become law, everyone in the Netherlands will be considered a donor unless they specifically request to be taken off the list.
Non voluntary euthanasia is not unheard of in the Netherlands. It even has a name: “Termination without request or consent.” Technically against the law, it is almost never punished.
Now, consider a doctor–who has completely swallowed the euthanasia hemlock point-of-view–looking upon a “suffering” patient, believing his life to be not worth living, and thinking that he has some perfectly good and usable kidneys, liver, and heart available for other patients who could make better use of them.
What could possibly go wrong?
View Comments, nike air speed turf max for saleView Comments, nike air speed turf max for saleWho says literary festivals can’t be dramatic? Via the New York Times :
Officials in charge of an Australian writers festival [the Brisbane Writers Festival, which ended Sunday] were so upset with the address by their keynote speaker, the American novelist Lionel Shriver, that they censored her on the festival website and publicly disavowed her remarks.
Ms. Shriver criticized as runaway political correctness efforts to ban references to ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation from Halloween celebrations, or to prevent artists from drawing on ethnic sources for their work. Ms. Shriver, the author of 13 novels, who is best known for her 2003 book, “We Need to Talk About Kevin,” was especially critical of efforts to stop novelists from cultural appropriation. She deplored critics of authors like Chris Cleave, an Englishman, for presuming to write from the point of view of a Nigerian girl in his best-selling book “Little Bee.”
Ms. Shriver noted that she had been criticized for using in “The Mandibles” the character of a black woman with Alzheimer’s disease, who is kept on a leash by her homeless white husband. And she defended her right to depict members of minority groups in any situation, if it served her artistic purposes.
“Otherwise, all I could write about would be smart-alecky 59-year-old 5-foot-2-inch white women from North Carolina,” she said.
Put another way: Australia’s literary-fiction establishment is upset that a fiction writer defended. writing fiction.
On the hierarchy of nonsense, this is at the level of too-stupid-to-survive — but if the alternative is that only Slovakian hairdressers can write about the Slovakian-hairdresser experience, then I won’t mourn this particular establishment’s passing. As I wrote a while back, it “colonization” is an omnipresent danger only if you reduce all imaginative art to autobiography.
[If] all art is predicated on personal history, a white male in Minneapolis should not write about an Afro-Cuban lesbian in Havana; doing so steals from Afro-Cuban, Havanan lesbians their stories. But the whole point of imagination is that it is borderless. No one “owns” the Afro-Cuban lesbian experience. If imaginatively portraying that experience from a Starbucks in the Twin Cities is what your art demands, you can do that. That’s the magic of imagination.
And it’s led to some darn good art. (N.B. Shakespeare was not a Moorish general .) But liberal politics is a totalizing enterprise, so it’s little surprise that the Brisbane Writers Festival and other haute-couture types are now more concerned with affirming “correct” politics than making good art. And the silliness of much of our “serious” literary culture is on display in the work they produce.
P.S. Included in the Times ’ write-up is this scene, which is both instructive and pretty entertaining:
After her Brisbane speech, Ms. Shriver was accosted by a festival participant in the hallway of the State Library of Queensland, who shouted, “How dare you come to my country and offend our minorities?” The author said that the woman had clearly not actually heard her speech, which made no mention of Australian minorities.
View Comments, nike air speed turf max for saleDebates about police reform often generate more heat than light. One oft-repeated but less-examined claim is that officers could easily be held accountable through proper use of body cameras. Ignoring the costs of such a plan is part and parcel of presenting it as a panacea, but that is not an option for departments that have faced the challenges of implementing the policy.
The AP reports that many departments have run into serious problems — usually related to the storage of videos. In Clarksville, Ind. for example, the police can afford to store footage for 30 days. But a new state law now requires videos be stored for 190 days, which would bring costs as high as $100,000 per year, thereby breaking the budget.
Large departments looking to introduce body cameras, in places like Oakland County, Mich. face startlingly high startup costs for cameras and storage that deter implementation. But medium-sized departments face a particular problem on video storage — they are too large to store video on servers they already have, while their budgets are not large enough to invest in upgraded storage systems. This makes body camera programs difficult to implement and maintain.
If the use of cameras were indeed a panacea, these high costs might well be worth it. But events in Milwaukee following the shooting of Sylville Smith in August by a police officer showed that, whatever partial role body cameras play in investigations into such incidents, they do not immediately appease the public’s outrage. The footage obtained in the Smith case has not been released while the investigation is ongoing; riots have ensued in the meantime
It was an unjustifiably optimistic idea that body cameras would give the public a simple answer in these disputes. The reality is that they are an expensive and imperfect answer at best to the challenges of administering justice after violent confrontations involving police officers.

Ramesh, yes, how Pence handled that question from Blitzer, and a similar one today at a press conference, didn’t make much sense. It’s not as though he’s unwilling to denounce Duke — he says he denounces him and today called him “a bad man.” He just doesn’t want to use the word “deplorable,” evidently to avoid Clinton allies saying, “Look, even Mike Pence calls a Trump supporter deplorable!” But the answer you suggest wouldn’t have given the Clintonites any real fodder, would have avoided the unwelcome headlines — and would have had the additional advantage of being true.
View Comments, nike air speed turf max for saleSince she made them, a number of liberals have stepped forward to defend them, arguing that yes, half of Trump’s supporters really are deplorable bigots. At Bloomberg View. I argue that the evidence they adduce doesn’t justify this attack .
Byron York, meanwhile, says that the remarks were politically brilliant on Clinton’s part. It got Wolf Blitzer to ask Mike Pence if David Duke was deplorable, and when he refused to say so–”I’m not in the name-calling business, Wolf”–other journalists trumpeted the news while ignoring or downplaying the fact that Pence disavowed Duke’s support.
But any benefit Clinton has gained from this incident came courtesy of Pence. If he had just said, “Of course Duke is deplorable, Wolf, but it’s outrageous to suggest that the millions of people supporting our campaign are anything like him,” none of those headlines would have been written.
View Comments, nike air speed turf max for saleBill and Hillary have a way of treating the credibility of their allies as a disposable commodity, in this case including the credibility of a protective media.
The press had worked itself into a lather in recent weeks about the illegitimacy of inquiries into Hillary’s health. They were re-paid by Clinton leaving reporters behind without notice at the September 11 memorial; nearly collapsing when she was out of their view (the incident was captured on video by a bystander); giving them a wave and a misleading “feeling great” outside of Chelsea Clinton’s apartment, where she had gone to recover; leaving them behind yet again to go to her home in Chappaqua and see a doctor.

Something strange has caught my attention few months ago… look at this!
Duga (Russian: Дуга) was a Soviet over-the-horizon (OTH) radar system used as part of the Soviet ABM early-warning network. The system operated from July 1976 to December 1989. Two operational Duga radars were deployed, one near Chernobyl and Chernihiv in what was then called the Ukrainian SSR (present-day Ukraine), the other in eastern Siberia.
The Duga systems were extremely powerful, over 10 MW in some cases, and broadcast in the shortwave radio bands. They appeared without warning, sounding like a sharp, repetitive tapping noise at 10 Hz,[1] which led to it being nicknamed by shortwave listeners the Russian Woodpecker. The random frequency hops disrupted legitimate broadcast, amateur radio, commercial aviation communications, utility transmissions, and resulted in thousands of complaints by many countries worldwide. The signal became such a nuisance that some receivers such as amateur radios and televisions actually began including 'Woodpecker Blankers' in their design.
The unclaimed signal was a source for much speculation, giving rise to theories such as Soviet mind control and weather control experiments. However, many experts and amateur radio hobbyists quickly realized it to be an over-the-horizon radar system. NATO military intelligence had already photographed[citation needed] the system and given it the NATO reporting name of either STEEL WORK or STEEL YARD. This theory was publicly confirmed after the fall of the Soviet Union. (Source: Wikipedia)
This strange story inspired me.
I want to create something big and mechanical.
A giant robot, realized with post-apocalyptic industrial technologies.
Maybe. a giant “Gattai” robot!
Popularized by Japanese giant robot tv shows, the term “Gattai” literally refers to the act of merging two seperate entities.
It's often interchangable with similiar terms such as fusion, combination, joining, etc.
What do you think about this?
