The Nike Air Raid Retro isn't just a kick that was used to compete with the Reebok's standing in the streetball world in the early '90s, but it was a shoe that embraced equality on the court. A little bit of Nike marketing, with the help of Spike Lee, made this kick an all-inclusive kick in the streetball relm.
The Nike Air Raid Retro was tough! Literally. The shoe was one of the most durable of its time making it the perfect kick for streetball in addition to being a mother's favorite investment knowing her child would get some use out of it. Coming to UBIQ Walnut this Saturday 3.29.14, we'll have the classic Black and Grey model made famous by Tim Hardaway with his patented “UTEP Two Step”.
Now for the details of this Grey and Black colorway. This Air Raid comes comes untouched in regards to the thick, rubber outsole, which sports the steel plated pattern. The outsole construction allowed this kick to be perfect for abusing the blacktop day in and day out. Somehow Nike was able to make this retro a little tougher with reinforced cross stitching on the straps. Now this is a heavier shoe given its “blacktop durability,” but you'll need that and the lockdown system to protect your feet on the hot, summer concrete. Finish it off with a mix of leather and mesh on the upper coupled with the Nike branding and you got yourself a top competitor in respect to Reebok's influence at the time.
The Nike Air Raid Retro will be available this Saturday 3.29.14 for $135. In-store at 10AM EDT and online at 11AM EDT pending availability.

At Jimmy Jazz we know Heat, which is why we are proud to announce that we will be participating in the release of the Nike Air Raid "Urban Jungle Gym" this upcoming Saturday 7/26/14. So why does it look like these sneakers jumped out of a Spike Lee coloring book? The original Nike Air Raid shoe was released in 1992 and the commercial for the shoe was directed by Spike Lee. It was shot on an "Urban Jungle Gym" basketball court, starring Spike Lee and the man with the "killer crossover," Tim Hardaway, who at the time was endorsed by Nike. The commercial only featured the Black and grey original color way, however, Nike later released a limited pair of the White "Urban Jungle Gym" as well as a Black "Urban Jungle Gym." The shoe is also referred to as the Air Raid "Peace" due to the peace symbol on the cross-foot straps. So if you really got OG flavor you do not want these missing from your repertoire, if you really got the juice.
Aside from being a part of history, Nike did a great job in creating a great basketball shoe. According to Nike. the Air Raid's design features cross-foot straps and an Air-Sole heel unit for stability and comfort. The PU midsoles with encapsulated Air-Sole unit in heel give the shoe lightweight cushioning. The rubber outsole helps with durability and traction. They'll be available on Jimmyjazz.co m and in select Jimmy Jazz Stores this weekend as a family release in all sizes. The New Era snapback cap pictured below is also available for purchase.

Shelflife T-shirts are produced using pre-shrunk 100% premium cotton. Maximum shrinkage is 2% per shirt. The cut is quite fitted, so if you are looking for something a little baggy, order one size up.

One Night Only // "ParaNorman" Nike Air Raid Auction In Portland, nike air raid for saleWhile Tinker Hatfield, Tiffany Beers and Joel Colley all worked together on that coveted Foamposite One, there was an alternate ParaNorman-themed pair that they sampled up just for themselves. Because they work on Special Projects in Nike's Innovation Kitchen and they can do those kinds of things.
Rather than utilize one of Tinker's more well-known iconic models, he and Beers incorporated the movie's black and neon colorway and quirky bone graphics atop one of Hatfield's favorite under-the-radar pairs, the Air Raid. Inspired by the growing blacktop hoops culture of the early 90's, Tinker has long cherished the Raid for its performance-first strap design and rugged outsole. Unreleased to the public until now, Tinker and Tiffany specially donated a pair of the "ParaNorman" Air Raids to be auctioned off tonight in Portland at the 366 Days Of Kicks Year End Party.
Included with the size 11 pair of "ParaNorman" Air Raids is this custom built box by fellow Nike Innovation Kitchen designer Mark Smith. The glow-in-the-dark box also features graphics and phrases from the movie, along with the 366 Days Of Kicks logo.
The live auction for the "ParaNorman" Air Raid will begin at 11 PM tonight at The Slate. and all proceeds will benefit the Monsters On The Move Foundation. an organization that helps aspiring dancers with class funding.
